Graduate students in psychological science interested in pursuing aging-focused research and training can apply for a unique National Institute on Aging (NIA) funding opportunity. This opportunity, called a F99/K00 predoc to postdoc transition award/postdoctoral transition award by NIH, supports researchers and clinical scientists in areas such as behavioral, social, clinical, and other relevant fields. Accepted applicants will complete two phases of the award including completing doctoral dissertation projects and training that supports the transition into postdoctoral positions funded by the same grant.
This NIA grant provides up to six years of support; in 2022, NIA intends to fund approximately 7 to 10 awards. Because the F99/K01 is a particularly complicated funding mechanism, APS recommends that interested graduate students read the opportunity particularly carefully before beginning an application.
